At Stardust we provide quality materials for reuse.
Stardust began 25 years ago by attacking the waste stream at one of its most free-flowing sources, construction and remodel waste. Home remodeling and renovation projects are big business. In Maricopa County enough discarded material is generated by construction projects each year to fill a Baseball Stadium from grass to rafters! Can you imagine a baseball stadium filled with windows, doors, cabinets and even appliances? The saddest part is that over 75% of what would be in the stadium is viable, usable material.
Our job at Stardust is to get those materials, intact, from homes and businesses where they are unwanted into the hands of people who need them. Stardust deconstruction teams go into homes and businesses, salvaging materials for resale and reuse. We sustain ourselves by selling the donated materials out of two home improvement stores located across our valley. Stardust diverts over 5 million tons of usable material from our waste stream every year.
Our concept allows us to attack other waste sources while supporting the most vulnerable among us through our Gifts In Kind program. Each year, Gifts In Kind diverts over $15 million worth of usable materials donated by corporate partners such as Walmart and Amazon. Building supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, diapers and even linens and pillows that were once destined for our landfill because they were out of season, had damaged packaging, or even slight dings are distributed to local non-profit organizations, at no cost to the organization.
We partner with over 450 nonprofits in Maricopa County and touch the lives of over 200,000 individuals and their families each year. We help folks moving out of homeless into permanent housing who need linens and pillows, dishes and even coffee makers. We help veterans reentering the workforce who need the tools of their trade to start their new careers. We help young families with diapers and infant supplies so that their new babies have what they need to be comfortable.
With your help we can do so more. An investment in Stardust will allow us to pick-up and distribute additional usable materials to help those in need in our community. All from the power of reuse.
